in the Rocky Mountain Region Cleantech Open and a chance to compete for the $250,000 National Grand Prize in in November.

Denver, October 6, 2011: The Cleantech Open (www.cleantechopen.org), the
world’s largest cleantech accelerator, has announced Dragonfly Solutions as the
Regional Sustainability Finalist that will represent the Rocky Mountain Region
in a final showdown at the Cleantech Global Forum in San Jose, California. It
was a night full of accolades for Dragonfly Solutions, being selected from an elite group of 34 clean tech startups as the company most effectively incorporating a triple-bottom-line approach to its business.

“Competing at the 2011 Global Forum in November will allow them to take their story to a national audience.” said Rex Northern, executive director of the Cleantech Open. 120 semi-finalists were selected from a pool of 285 talented cleantech entrepreneurs from across the country.

“The Cleantech Open really helped us understand the value of focusing on and owning one market,” says Dragonfly co-founder and President Jacqueline Zielenski. “Schools are the first target for our electricity-saving units because they are suffering from escalating electrical rates. Dragonfly patent-pending technology can reduce energy consumption by up
to 20%, with a payoff of less than two years.”

Dragonfly combines six types of energy-savings technologies into one system – at one-fifth the cost as compared to other solutions. Their solution monitors all energy data continuously and “tunes” the electrical system automatically to reduce energy consumption. The hardware and software components of Dragonfly systems condition power, regulate voltage, mitigate harmonics, and filter surges and spikes.

As a benefit corporation, dedicated to People, Planet and Profit, Dragonfly Solutions sees sustainability as its driving force,
completely aligned with our core values and business practices. “Winning the Sustainability Award for the Rocky Mountain Cleantech Open was a nod from the organization about how we approach the triple-bottom-line throughout our business model. It’s really quite an honor”, said Zielenski. “The life cycle of a product—especially for a manufacturing firm—has a great deal of sustainability opportunity”.

Zielenski is putting a “Take Back Scheme” in place, working with each city or state Dragonfly sells to. Some communities
have programs in place. Where there isn’t a program, Dragonfly will develop their own, to ensure that products do not end up in landfills.

About Dragonfly Solutions Inc.™

Dragonfly Solutions, Inc. manufactures patent-pending Energy Efficiency Systems for K-12 School Districts across America. Its Energy Efficiency Systems provide comprehensive energy efficiency solutions that reduce energy consumption, allow
demand-side management and provide Schools with proprietary funding solutions.

I have life-threatening asthma and impaired lung functions that make this a very personal issue, especially when the “bad air” days come to stay. My doctors have advised me to leave the State I love to protect my health – is that what we have to look forward too? Having the cleanest air possible in Utah must be a priority to reduce the health issues and the associated costs to society, business and local governments.

The fate of solar incentive programs extends well beyond the convenience issues of our electric utilities. My city’s inclusion in the top-ten toxic cities is not good for businesses, local governments, or individuals. As a society we understand that our utilities must make a profit and be healthy enough to serve the public needs. The public, too, has a right to be healthy, and has invoked the power to Public Service Commissions to protect their rights in a monopolistic system. It concerns me greatly that my power provider has concluded and publically stated that that providing solar incentives to consumers is not in their best interest.

I am the Founder and CEO of PerpetualGreen, LLC, a Utah business that manufactures energy efficiency and renewable energy products for homes and businesses. It has been hammered home to PerpetualGreen that the power companies are not interested in helping reduce consumer’s energy bills if reduces their revenues. It’s really that simple. Without a balancing force (or clean air incentives), greed wins more often than not.

It is unfortunate some state government has chosen not to initiate a Renewables Portfolio Standard and our Utah’s Governor has openly backed cheap coal-fired generation as a prime way to attract energy-hungry businesses to our state. I’m hoping there can be some balance in the equation of clean, renewable energy vs. dirty, cheap energy.

RMP has assured PerpetualGreen they are an investor-owned utility that is fully focused on their bottom line profits. Nationwide, the recession has already dropped utility revenues an average of 10%. I’m very appreciative we have a system in place that serves to balance the wants of the utilities with the needs of the people. A proposed 13.7% increase this year for RMP and double digit increases each year for the next decade should help their bottom line. Throwing the consumer a bone in the form of solar incentives would help more than it would hurt.

I fully understand RPM’s profit motives and their recent stance that offering rebates for solar incentives is not good for their bottom line. It really becomes a ratepayer issue because the utilities will are guaranteed a reasonable return on their investment and rater-payers are the ones paying for incentives, not RMP. I am very grateful that the PSC understands that a monopoly’s best interests are not always in line with the best interests of society, individuals and the Commission has been formed to balance the needs of private businesses and the public good.

The cost of having clean air to breath and a healthy Utah environment ultimately must be borne by ratepayers. Clean energy has a price tag, but it’s more acceptable to society than cheap, dirty energy. I have always lived in Utah because I love the state, but as an individual with air-quality related my doctors have advised me to move out of an area that has been branded as one the top ten toxic areas in America. It’s not good business for the state or local governments, either.

As a RMP residential and business customer, I favor an unlimited solar PV rebate program for the next 5 years. A rebate of $1.50 per watt would be more than adequate to stimulate renewable solar energy installations and the return on this investment would greatly benefit consumers and the utility. A five year commitment would be enough to encourage private investors and businesses to participate.

I’ve seen RPM projections to the PSC that forecast a large shortfall in electrical generation going forward as existing fossil fuel plants are being retired and demand continues to increase. These calculations were made before the announcement of the NSA facility that has been projected to consume enormous amounts of our precious energy.

Distributed solar PV generation (DG) coupled with energy efficiency (EE) is the best solution for everyone moving forward and the PSC needs to keep incentives in place to promote these vital installations. Its common sense that centralized fossil fuel plants cannot continue to meet the needs of Utah moving forward.

Distributed solar generation and energy-efficiency projects can greatly reduce the need for additional power plants, reduce the strain of the overloaded electrical grid, reduce rates over the long term, and (best of all) reduce harmful emissions and pollution – all the while creating green jobs and helping to revive our troubled economy.

PerpetualGreen’s unique Energy Saving Certificates and Green Equity programs are enabling property owners to unlock the green equity stored in their properties to reduce the cost of acquiring energy-efficient and renewable energy products. PerpetualGreen’s methodology overcomes the higher transaction costs normally associated with the complexity of a greater number of parties and technologies involved in the implementation of multiple energy savings measures, the cost of issuing, tracking and certifying ESCs, and extensive measurement and verification to ensure market integrity.

PerpetualGreen is well positioned to take a prominent position in the fast moving voluntary energy certificate markets by using its patent-pending technologies to capture market share by implementing new methodologies to create a new blend of solar, wind, geothermal, recycling, and efficiency certificates. Protecting and enhancing the environment is at the forefront of PerpetualGreen’s business strategy.

PerpetualGreen’s EnergySave Systems increase the effectiveness of solar and all forms of renewable energy by an average of 25%. Most electrical systems currently waste a portion of the renewable energy produced by solar panels. PerpetualGreen’s patented EnergySave Management Systems optimize a building’s electrical system to reduce power consumption by mitigating electrical surges/spikes, regulating harmonics and voltage, and lowering current draw. PerpetualGreen’s EnergySave systems concurrently integrate several principles of physics, to safely balance the reactive energy of an electrical system to as close to 98% as possible – at all time. The result is unparalleled efficiency gains, a quick return on investment, and clear air.

PerpetualGreen and its employees hold as core tenants: Serve the Greater Good, Passion, Integrity, Giving Back, Innovation, Education, Teamwork, Sustainability, and Community. Jacqueline Zielienski, vice president of sales and marketing states “these core beliefs are part of PerpetualGreen’s DNA. As such, it is our hope that we can unite people to conserve energy, reduce energy consumption and perpetually clean up the environment, so we can leave the planet a better place for our children, our children’s children, and their children. We are looking forward to a brighter clean energy future and giving back for the greater good and we invite you to join us.”

PerpetualGreen works hard to perpetually improve the environment with its clean energy technologies, but lately it’s been hard at work clearing the air around its on-line reputation after a web-based smear campaign. Brent Ivie, its Founder and CEO, relates that “reputations are always vulnerable to change and a company must always strive to meet ever higher standards, always protecting its reputation. Corporate reputations are terrifically important in the green business world and in our personal world as well. Losing reputation often provides an opportunity for companies to make things better by initiating change.”

PerpetualGreen sincerely apologizes to anyone that has been offended or upset its actions or policies. Everyone at PerpetualGreen has a deep passion to create a cleaner environment while helping individuals and businesses save energy and money. Brent Ivie, Founder and CEO, emphasized “I’ve been tireless and focused in my efforts which sometimes ruffle feathers. I’m willing to take appropriate risks, make mistakes and even fail. Our company tag line is “It’s the right thing to do” and we strive to be the best we can be.”

Founded in 2008, PerpetualGreen, LLC manufactures custom EnergySave™ Systems, which combined with the EnergyTrack™ Monitor and EnergyTune™ Tools have been proven to reduce electrical costs in homes and businesses. Ivie explains “Our renewable and energy efficient technologies make being “green” easy and surprising affordable. Our inventions are based on proven electrical technology that we combine with energy management. We are committed to using American-made parts and local suppliers and incorporate sustainable energy- and money-saving technologies into our products and services.”

The Environment California Research & Policy Center concluded that launching a nuclear power industry nearly from the ground up is too slow and expensive a process. Energy efficiency standards and renewable energy options are better solutions, researchers said.

Currently, no new nuclear reactors are under construction in the country, and no U.S. power company has ordered a nuclear plant since 1978. All orders for nuclear facilities after fall 1973 were eventually canceled, according to the report.

Meanwhile, building a reactor would probably take around a decade – 2016 at the earliest, the study suggested. Without an existing infrastructure, manufacturing reactor parts with the dearth of trained personnel would be difficult.

But even if the nuclear industry managed to build 100 reactors by 2030, the total power produced would reduce total U.S. emissions only 12% over the next 20 years, which Environment California deemed “far too little, too late.”

Peter Bradford, a former U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission member, made this comparison in a statement: “Counting on new nuclear reactors as a climate change solution is no more sensible than counting on an un-built dam to create a lake to fight a nearby forest fire.”

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – JULY 18, 2009 – PerpetualGreen announced today the launch of the PerpetualGreen™ Power Energy Efficiency System.

This unique system reduces energy consumption in homes and offices by as much as 30%, resulting in lower power bills, less greenhouse gas emissions and a reduced carbon footprint.

A result of several years of design and engineering efforts, the PerpetualGreen™ Power Energy Efficiency System combines monitoring devices for real-time knowledge, power conditioning and specialty lighting. In combination, these products result in a system that can reduce energy consumption by 30% and provide whole home surge suppression.

“Many individuals have explored installing green products to help reduce power consumption and save on energy bills. The challenge face by most of these individuals is the cost associated with adding green products and how long it takes to recover the investment”, says Doug Stuart, President and CEO of PerpetualGreen. “As excited as we are about the PerpetualGreen™ Power Energy Efficiency System, we are equally enthused about the unique funding option we have developed for those individuals who want to be green, but can’t afford it. We have worked with financial partners to make our money saving Energy Efficiency System available with no up-front costs”.

Results from a recent energy efficiency pilot program in Idaho and Utah show power savings of at least 30%. The test was conducted from January 1, 2009 to June 30, 2009 by PerpetualGreen™. The goal of the pilot was to test the energy-efficiency system as well as gain insight into consumer behavior and motivations for change. Participants were able to monitor energy usage in real time, tracking their consumption in dollars spent, kilowatts consumed and greenhouse gases emitted.

Highlights from the pilot include the top 18% of participants saved in excess of 40% off electrical usage over a 6-month period.

PerpetualGreen is moving into a production phase for the efficiency systems. “We are pleased with the results received form our initial testing” says Brent Ivie, Founder. “Additionally, we have started designing the next generation control panel which will add functionality and real-time monitoring to the system.” Purchasers of the system are eligible for Federal Tax Credits in addition to state-specific rebates being offered directly from PerpetualGreen.

Founded in 2008, PerpetualGreen of Utah is a privately owned Company based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. The company engineers and manufacturers green products and solutions for residential and commercial applications, including technology that monitors and measures energy savings credits.

PerpetualGreen is enabling the quest to convert from fossil fuels to renewable energy is in high gear, but creating the additional megawatts of clean energy to meet our future energy isn’t penciling out. We can’t even meet our coming needs using dirty fuels, let alone rely on new solar, wind, geo, or hydro developments to pick up the slack. Environmental concerns have stalled large solar farms, oil spills have slowed oil production, wind power is too erratic, and coal power plant emissions have been linked to premature deaths and climate change.

It is estimated that we will come up short about 14,000,000,000,000 watts out of the roughly 28 trillion watts needed to power the world in 2030. New clean energy sources and develops will not be able to keep pace with our run-a-way energy needs. More importantly, we’re not prepared for the population boom that will more than double the demand for energy as the world’s population pushes to 9 billion by the middle of the century. This isn’t a worst-case scenario – it’s just simple math.

In the near and mid-term we won’t be able to get enough clean-fuel energy to fill the gap. Our only real hope is harnessing the lowly “negawatt” – the watt that is never produce – the cleanest clean energy source. Negawatts are the easier, cleaner, cheaper way to “produce” the energy needed to fill this gap. The cost of producing a negawatt is five times less than creating “dirty” power.

Is a sustainable future even possible? America ranks a whopping 137th when it comes to energy efficiency. Our current electrical grid leaks roughly two-thirds of our created energy in conversion and transmission. We can and must find a way to make roof-top solar affordable to the masses, reward those who reduce their electrical consumption, and embrace energy efficiency.

The good news is that it’s not hard to find the tools and technologies necessary to make a sustainable future a reality. One bright spot is PerpetualGreen’s new hybrid renewable energy technology that boosts solar energy performance while reduces a building’s power consumption. This made-in-Amercia technology is available for no up-front costs to home or business owners through a new Green Equity® program available through cities and towns across American. Best of all, municipalities that are strapped for cash can use the Green Equity® program to help balance their budgets and create green jobs at the same time!

It’s just what American needs in this time of crisis. It’s the right thing to do.

PerpetualGreen’s new product called Negawatt Box may help customers cash in on new energy-efficiency programs initiated by utilities that pays customers to lower their power usage. This affordable energy-efficiency system can reduce power consumption up to 24% (see “Negawatt Box is Potentially the Best Source of Clean, Renewable Energy”).

As saving energy has become a necessity for utilities and the government, consumers are in line to be paid for installing this energy-saving system. Individuals and companies are being charged up to 4.75 percent for an “energy efficiency” rider on their electric bills to provide incentives for customers to reduce their energy use and modify their behavior.

Power companies are finding it is cheaper to save energy than to build new power plants. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, an advocacy group, estimates that about half of utilities now run programs that pay customers to cut use during peak periods.

Decoupling, or negawatt programs, is a concept that allows utilities to raise rates to make up for paying the customers that reduce their power usage. Public Utility Commissions around the country are ordering utilities to refocus on energy efficiency and reward their customers for saving energy.

PerpetualGreen Fans The Fifth Fuel. It's not as sexy as erecting a massive wind farm or commissioning a new nuclear reactor — and it certainly offers far fewer photo ops — but businesses and decision-makers the world over are quickly starting to realize the power of energy efficiency.

PerpetualGreen Fans The Fifth Fuel Wal-Mart is adding billions to its bottom line by making its stores and supply chain more efficient. Boeing has outdone Airbus with its 20% more efficient Dreamliner. Forbes recently reported that “BP made over $2 billion substituting efficiency for fuel; DuPont and Dow Chemical, $3 billion apiece.”

That’s what’s so exciting about energy efficiency… A small investment on the front-end leads to huge savings on the back-end. And it applies to every business…
